Getting ready for Christmas in your new home!

Well the first of the team’s Christmas trees went up last weekend – slightly early we feel but someone has got to start us off! Dan was the first one to drag the decorations out of storage and his Christmas tree is up and pictures posted on social media! He is just waiting to see if his pet dog, Cooper will let it stay up until Christmas now. It looks beautiful by the way! 😊

Traditionally, Christmas trees should be put up and decorated at the start of Advent (which starts on the fourth Sunday before Christmas), so this year is Sunday, November 28 - a little earlier than usual. There is no right or wrong time to put up your decorations though – it really all depends on your personal preference.

Ellie moved into her first home earlier this year so has the fun dilemma of what colour scheme to choose for her Christmas decorations. And what a choice there is! Each year there appear to be new options and it can be easy to fall into the trap of changing them every Christmas.

So…. what is the Christmas decoration colour for 2021?

Apparently, the colour theme for Christmas 2021 is all about “joyful bright colours in both traditional colours as well as contemporary alternatives such as magenta and blue”. These are going to really bring the fun to your celebrations if you like bright colours. On the other hand, muted colours are also going to be a big trend. After shopping at some of the Christmas retailers recently pink/rose gold would appear to be an extremely popular theme this year as well as the traditional silver and red/gold choices. In other words – whichever you like best!

It is always very tempting to re-do the decorations each year but try not to fall into the trap of keeping all the old ones as well as buying new ones! You can easily end up with several boxes of decorations you will never use again. (Cathy admits to being guilty as charged!)

Anyway, whenever you put up your decorations, and whichever colour scheme you decide on, we hope you all have a fabulously fun time doing so. Put those Christmas tunes on full blast and grab a glass of something fizzy to get you in the Christmas mood!

Merry Christmas!
